THE CALX PROJECT EARNS A UNIQUE GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS RECOGNITON

Guinness World Records officially recognized Christian's unique 60 hour solo piano improvisation concert as a unique world record - the first of its type.

The complete Guinness certificate reads as follows:
"The longest solo music internet broadcast was performed by Christian Calcatelli who played piano for 60 hrs 1 minute in aid of The Calx Project at the Galleria Alberto Sordi, Rome Italy from September 15 - 17, 2004"

Christian significantly raised the bar of creativity, performance and endurance in a live concert setting as he improvised from scratch for the whole duration of the event, never playing from sheet music or from known standards.

"I was lost in musicland" he recalls "Everything around me turned into music - a person who walked by was transformed into notes, a special memory was transposed to sound, feelings turned into music. Everything around me became music. I just somehow captured it and bounced it back to the hundreds of people around me and the thousands on the internet."

At times, Christian played with one hand while eating with the other one (A whole track of a single-hand theme is on the collectors' CD), while he was being massaged and while he was leaving interviews to newspaper and TV. If you are wondering how he went to the bathroom, diapers is not the answer! Visit the FAQ section to find out! :)

The Calx Project was conceived by Christian and realized with Zillion and SKY FM.

After the event, Christian listened to the complete 60 hour recordings several times and selected some of the most interesting improvisations. These tracks have been collected in an exciting double CD collection ironically entitled 'A BROKEN RECORD vol. 1 and 2'. Critics defined these as "a thrilling memoir of an incredible event" and "a fascinating musical journey". You can live all the emotions of this historical concert by downloading your MP3 copy now as it is exclusively available from this site! You will also receive extensive liner notes providing insight into what was going on at the time the pieces you hear were being played. Reviewer Kathy Parsons describes these as 'personal and enlightening...'
